Proud Stutter: Empowering People with Speech Diversity

Maya Chupkov, a white woman with brown hair and blond highlights, speaks into a podcast microphone.

Proud Stutter is a short film featuring Maya, who grew up with a stutter she believed she needed to overcome, embarking on a transformative journey of self-acceptance. Realizing that stuttering is simply another way of speaking, she creates a podcast to amplify the voices of those who share her experience. Through candid conversations, Maya creates a space where people who stutter can find strength, connection, and a voice.

Proud Stutter was funded by Chronic Pain Partners and has won the Hilltop Film Festival of Diversity and Inclusion Award in the category “Best Disability Short”, and was an Official Selection at Hollywood International Diversity Film Festival, International Black & Diversity Film Festival, CA Film Program on Stuttering Storytelling, Awareness Film Festival 2025, Art Without Limit Festival 2025 and PADI Film Festival.

Proud Stutter is captioned in English.
